Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-13
This policy explains what information the GenMind™ mobile app and the services behind it ("GenMind") collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. GenMind is provided by Mindsigns Health™ Inc. ("Mindsigns Health", "we", "us"), Phoenix, Arizona. It covers GenMind only. Our website has its own privacy policy.
How you come to use GenMind
GenMind is available by invitation only, from a care provider or a research study that works with us (your "organization").
- Through a care provider. We process your health information on your provider's behalf, to provide the service they use to follow your care. Your provider's Notice of Privacy Practices also applies.
- Through a research study. The consent form you signed with the study team describes how the study uses your data. This policy describes how GenMind handles it.
What we collect
| What | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, emergency contact, time zone. Your participant number if you are in a study. | You, at sign-up, and your organization |
| What you enter | Daily check-ins, mood, sleep, symptoms, head impact reports, medications and reminders, notes, your safety plan | You, in the app |
| Voice notes | The audio recording, its transcript, and the analysis of your voice | You, when you record a reflection |
| Tasks | Your answers to memory and attention tasks (word recall, digit span, months in reverse) | You, in the app |
| Sensor recordings | Balance: movement data from your phone's motion sensor. Pulse: color values from the camera while your fingertip covers it. No photo or video is kept. | Your phone, during a recording you start |
| Technical information | Phone model, operating system and app version, notification token, error reports | Your phone, automatically |
The app asks your permission before it uses the microphone, camera, motion sensor, notifications or contacts. Contacts are read only when you choose to call someone from the crisis screen, to show them in a list. They stay on your phone.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics tools in the app.
How we use it
- to run the app and your account, and send the reminders you or your organization set up
- to show your information to the people your organization authorizes (see below)
- to analyze your voice notes, tasks and recordings and produce the measures your organization follows
- to keep GenMind secure, fix errors and support you
- to meet legal obligations
We may use de-identified data, which no longer identifies you, to improve GenMind.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see your information
- People your organization authorizes. For a care provider, the clinicians assigned to you. Their access to your records is logged. For a research study, the study team, which receives reports identified by your participant number, not your name.
- Mindsigns Health staff, only as needed to run, secure and support GenMind.
- Service providers that run GenMind for us, under
contract and only for that purpose:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, storage, sign-in and email, in the United States
- Expo, Apple and Google: delivery of app updates and notifications. A medication reminder can include the name of the medication.
- Apple or Google: your phone's built-in speech recognition, which turns your voice notes into text, may process the audio on their servers under their own privacy terms.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Your voice notes and recordings are analyzed by our own software, inside our own environment. No outside artificial intelligence service receives them.
How we protect it
Your information is encrypted on its way to us and when stored. Details are on How your data is stored and kept secure.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your organization's program or study requires, and then as long as the law or the study protocol requires.
Your choices and rights
- Permissions. You can turn off camera, microphone, motion, notification or contact access at any time in your phone's settings. Some features will then not work.
- Access and correction. You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it.
- Deletion. You can ask us to close your account and delete your information. If you are in a research study, information already collected may have to be kept as the study protocol requires.
- Stopping. You can stop using GenMind at any time. Tell your organization if you wish to leave its program or study.
To make a request, contact your organization or write to us at information@mindsignshealth.com.

GenMind is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
